Founded in 1911, the Italian fashion house became world-renowned through its ‘impermeabile’, a waterproof trench coat which was also worn by Humphrey Bogart in 1942’s classic Casablanca. This early fame has kept the company busy all the way to the present. Valstar is one of Italy’s most tradition-conscious manufacturers of men’s and women’s fashion. Established in 1911, the company has always been associated with class, elegance, and style. Today, Valstar is a leading supplier of ‘casual chic’ whose products are in high demand across the globe. Generating more than EUR seven million in annual revenues, the company ships 75% of its production abroad, including the United States, Japan, Germany, Spain, the UK, Switzerland, the Middle East, and China.
Always one step ahead
Valstar started as a manufacturer of raincoats. “The challenge at that time was to produce a fabric that was both waterproof and breathable,” says Stefano Massa, Valstar’s CEO. “That’s how the trench coat was born, a classic garment which has essentially remained the same until the present day.” Over the years, Valstar has continuously expanded its product range to include a much wider variety of men’s and women’s fashion. Today, the company makes raincoats, overcoats, flying jackets, safari jackets, and trousers in the finest fabrics and leathers. Another Valstar classic is the Valstar Blouson. Originally introduced in 1935, it is still produced today in its authentic style and shape, cut from a single piece of suede leather. Building on its many years of experience in designing best-selling, fashionable classics, Valstar has developed into one of Italy’s leading manufacturers of menswear and ladies’ wear. There are other factors besides its longstanding tradition, however, that can be quoted to explain the company’s success. “The cornerstones of our success are uncompromising quality, superior service, delivery reliability, and a highly personal management of our customer relationships,” explains Mr. Massa. It is no surprise, hence, that Valstar is firmly on the road to further expansion. Always one step ahead of the competition, the Italian fashion house plans to open a new manufacturing site in Mantova, together with more than 1,200 square metres of shop space, besides a new elegant and refined space in Milan devoted as show-room for customers coming all over the world and as a retail outlet.
